Manchester United's Zlatan Ibrahimovic to retire from football - report

ZLATAN IRBAHIMOVIC is set to retire from football after suffering a serious knee injury, according to reports.

Manchester United striker Ibrahimovic was  on Thursday.
He is expected to be out until the end of the season, with United concerned that he may be sidelined for the rest of the year.



But the Daily Star claim the Swede may now retire from the game altogether.
They claim a source close to Jose Mourinho has confirmed the player’s career is over.
 is out of contract at the end of the season and United are unlikely to trigger a one-year extension on his £250,000-a-week wages if he is absent for at least six months of next term.

The striker has been United’s go-to goalscorer this season with 17 goals scored in the Premier League.
He arrived from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer last summer after winning four Ligue 1 titles in a row with the club.
Ibrahimovic retired from international football after Sweden were knocked out of Euro 2016.

He has won titles in Spain, Italy, Holland and France and was tipped to head to China or the MLS this summer if United didn’t offer him a new contract.
After Thursday’s match Mourinho was asked if he knew the extent of Ibrahimovic’s injury.
“I can't do that because I am a manager not a doctor,” he said.
"But the news is fairly negative I think."
