David de Gea is a goalkeeper of Manchester United. He was born on 7 November 1990 in Madrid, Spain.
David began his football career in one of the best Spanish youth academies. In 2001 he joined the Atlético Madrid academy and was trained there till 2008. As soon as the young goalkeeper was ready for the matches, he was asked to join the youth team. Due to his immense talent De Gea signed a professional contract at the age of 17.
However, at the beginning David joined the reserve team as it took time to get used to physical load. In 2008/2009 De Gea became the key goalkeeper of the reserve team, making 35 appearances during the year.
In 2009 David was invited to the first team. Due to his talent and skill, de Gea became a first-choice goalkeeper really soon. From 2009 till 2011 David took part in 57 games of the club.
When he played in Atlético Madrid, de Gea attracted the attention of the best European teams, because his talent and youth were estimated very high both at professional level and on the transfer market.
In 2011 David received a tempting offer that every talented player, striving for the better, expects in his career. Manchester United became David’s new club and he signed a long-term contract with it. De Gea substituted the legendary Edwin van der Sar after his retirement.
From 2004 till 2012 David was capped 62 times for the Spain national youth teams.
